Divisions
What Divisions are available within the (BSCO) Blaine County Sheriff's Office?
Patrol Division:
The Patrol Division is the backbone of the Blaine County Sheriff's Office, responsible for providing proactive law enforcement throughout the county. Deputies in this division are tasked with maintaining public safety, responding to emergency calls, conducting traffic enforcement, and performing routine patrols in both urban and rural areas. Patrol deputies are trained to handle a wide variety of incidents, from routine traffic stops to high-stakes emergency responses. They serve as the first line of defense, often being the first to arrive at crime scenes, accidents, and public disturbances. Their presence helps maintain order, prevent criminal activity, and build relationships with the community they serve.
Air Support:
The Air Support Division plays a critical role in enhancing our department's operational capabilities by providing aerial surveillance, pursuit assistance, and search and rescue operations. Equipped with helicopters and advanced technology, air support deputies have the ability to monitor large areas from the sky, tracking suspects, observing traffic patterns, and assisting ground units with real-time intelligence. This division allows for rapid response times and provides a strategic advantage during high-speed pursuits or when ground access is limited. The Air Support Division ensures that our deputies on the ground have the support they need to maintain control and effectively address critical situations.
Motor Unit (Motorcycle Unit):
The Motor Unit is a specialized division that focuses on law enforcement using motorcycles. Deputies assigned to this unit are trained to handle a variety of tasks, including traffic enforcement, pursuit duties, and crowd control at large events. The agility and speed of motorcycles make them ideal for navigating through heavy traffic, responding quickly to emergencies, and providing support to other divisions during high-speed pursuits. Motor Unit deputies also serve a visible and authoritative presence on the roads, helping to deter reckless driving and improve road safety. This division plays a vital role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's overall operations.
